Privacy Policy
Last updated July 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how The Plugins Company ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Lingolense plugin and the customer portal at https://lingolense.theplugins.co.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly — such as your name, email address, and billing details — when you create an account, purchase a plan, buy credits, or contact us.
We also collect technical data automatically to run the licensing and translation service and enforce plan limits: license activations, the editors and devices a key is used on, and character-usage counters.
- Account data: name, email, password hash (for email sign-in), locale, timezone
- Billing data: plan, subscription status, credit balance, and invoices — card details are handled by our payment provider, not stored by us
- License data: license keys, activation records (editor and device), and monthly character-usage counters
Text you translate
When you translate text with Lingolense, the selected text is sent to our translation service and on to the translation engines that perform the work — DeepL for machine translation and, on plans that include it, a large-language-model provider for AI context-aware translation.
We use your text only to produce the translation you requested and to count usage. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train our own models. Translation providers process the text under their own terms as our sub-processors; we send only the text needed for the translation, not your account or billing details.
To keep repeated work fast and cheap, translated strings may be cached against your file so re-translating the same text does not re-charge you.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and maintain the service, process payments, issue and validate license keys, meter and enforce usage limits, send transactional emails, and respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the processors required to run the service — our payment provider (Dodo Payments), translation engines (DeepL and our AI provider), and our email and hosting providers.
Data retention
We retain account, license, and usage data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we remove or anonymize personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, tax records for invoices).
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can manage most of this from your account settings, or contact us to exercise any right.
