Lingolense

Translate text

Select text, pick a language, and translate in place without breaking your layout.

Translating with Lingolense is three steps: select → choose languages → Translate.

Basic flow

Select text on the canvas

Select one or more text layers. You can select a single layer, several at once, or a whole frame — Lingolense finds the text inside your selection and lists the detected layers in the plugin.

Choose From / To

Under Languages, set the source (From) and target (To) language. Leave From on Auto-detect to let Lingolense figure out the source (a Starter+ feature).

Click Translate

Lingolense rewrites each selected text layer in the target language. The original layout, text styles, colours, and fonts are preserved — only the words change. Mixed formatting (bold/coloured runs) is re-applied to the translated text as closely as possible.

What gets preserved

  • Fonts — Lingolense loads the node's fonts before writing, so text isn't flattened or re-fonted. For right-to-left targets it swaps to a script-capable font only when the current one can't render the script.
  • Styling — bold, colour, size, and decoration are captured and re-applied across the translated text.
  • Your originals — translation overwrites the selected text. To translate without overwriting, use Language modes.

Usage

Every translation counts billable characters (letters and digits) against your monthly allowance. You can watch the counter in the plugin header (Plan · used/limit) and on your portal dashboard. See Usage & credits.

Tips

  • Single characters, numbers, and icon glyphs are skipped automatically — they aren't translated (so an avatar "M" or a price "$5" is left alone).
  • Repeat strings are cached, so translating the same text twice doesn't burn your allowance again.
