Languages & auto-detect
The languages Lingolense supports, and how source auto-detection works.
Lingolense translates between 45+ languages, including regional variants (e.g. British vs American English, European vs Brazilian Portuguese) and right-to-left scripts (Arabic, Hebrew).
Choosing languages
- From — the source language of your text. Leave it on Auto-detect to let Lingolense identify it for you.
- To — the target language you want.
Auto-detect
Auto-detect identifies the source language so you don't have to set it manually — handy when a design mixes languages or you're not sure of the source.
Plan note
Auto-detect is available on Starter and above. On the Free tier, pick the source language manually from the From dropdown (the Auto-detect option is disabled).
Regional variants
Where a language has variants, choosing the specific one gives you more accurate output — for example:
- English → British or American
- Spanish → European or Latin American
- Portuguese → European or Brazilian
- Chinese → Simplified or Traditional
Right-to-left languages
For Arabic and Hebrew, Lingolense translates the text and, if the current font can't render the script, switches to a script-capable font so you don't see "tofu" boxes. To also flip the layout direction, use RTL layout mirroring.
