Troubleshooting

Fixes for the most common Lingolense issues.

Quick fixes for the things people hit most. If none of these help, reach out via the contact page.

Activation

"Invalid license key"

  • Check for stray spaces — copy the key straight from your dashboard. The format is LINGO-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
  • Make sure you're signed in to the right account if you have more than one.

"Activation limit reached"

You've activated the key on more devices than your plan allows. Deactivate the plugin on a device you no longer use, or manage active devices from the dashboard. See License keys.

Translation

A feature is greyed out with a 🔒

That feature isn't in your current plan. Hover it to see which plan unlocks it, or check the feature matrix. Upgrade from your dashboard.

"Auto-detect" is disabled

Auto-detect is a Starter+ feature. On Free, choose the source language manually in the From dropdown. See Languages & auto-detect.

Some text didn't translate

Single characters, pure numbers, and icon glyphs are skipped on purpose — they aren't meaningful to translate. If real words were skipped, make sure the layer is a text layer and is included in your selection.

Translated text overflows its box

Translations are often longer than the source. On Pro+, overflow detection flags these for you. Widen the container, reduce the font size, or shorten the copy.

Right-to-left text looks wrong

Translating to Arabic/Hebrew switches to a script-capable font automatically. To flip the whole layout, run RTL mirroring.

Usage & billing

"You've reached your limit"

You've used your plan's monthly allowance. Buy credits (they never expire) or upgrade your plan. Already-translated text is unaffected.

My new plan isn't showing in the plugin

The plugin refreshes your plan the next time it validates your key. Close and reopen the plugin, or re-activate, to pick up an upgrade immediately.

Installing on Penpot

Penpot installs the plugin from a manifest URL rather than a store. If it won't load, double-check the manifest URL and, for a self-hosted Penpot on a LAN IP, watch for browser mixed-content blocking. See Install the plugin.
