Glossary & do-not-translate
Keep brand terms untranslated and force specific translations for specific terms.
The glossary keeps your terminology consistent. Use it to:
- Never translate certain terms — brand names, product names, code-y words (e.g. keep Lingolense, Dashboard, API as-is).
- Force a specific translation — override the engine for a term in a given language (e.g. always render Dashboard as Tableau in French).
How it works
Open the plugin menu (⋮) → Glossary. Add terms and, optionally, a target language and the exact translation to use. During translation, Lingolense:
- Swaps each glossary term for a private placeholder,
- translates the surrounding text,
- splices your term (or your override) back in untouched.
Because the term is protected end-to-end, it survives both DeepL and the AI engine without being altered.
The glossary is stored per file, so each design keeps its own terminology.
Plan note
The glossary is available on Starter and above.
Team shared glossary
On the Team plan, a shared glossary keeps terminology consistent across your whole team rather than per file.
