Translation in the plugin

Using the translation UI in Figma.

Use the Lingolense plugin inside Figma to translate selected text layers with AI-powered translation. The plugin sends text securely to our translation service and updates the layers with the translated content.

Basic flow

  1. Open a Figma file and run the Lingolense plugin.
  2. Select one or more text layers (or a frame containing text).
  3. Choose the source language (e.g. English) and target language (e.g. Spanish).
  4. Click Translate (or the equivalent action). The plugin replaces the text with the translation and counts the characters toward your usage.

Supported layer types

The plugin typically works with text layers (TEXT), sticky notes, and section names where text is present. Exact support may depend on the plugin version; if something isn't translating, check that the layer contains editable text.

RTL languages

For right-to-left languages (e.g. Arabic, Hebrew), the plugin may adjust text direction or alignment so the result displays correctly in Figma.

Usage in the plugin

The plugin shows your usage (e.g. characters used vs limit) so you can see how much of your plan you've used. The source of truth is the server; the plugin syncs usage when you translate. For more on limits and billing periods, see Usage & limits.
